★7月夏季保育2週目は七夕の日からスタートしました★

折り紙のお星様や輪っか、切り紙の天の川等など、、七夕飾りを作り、保育室にお飾りしました。　毎日暑い日が続いていますが、風になびく七夕飾りのお陰で、「涼」を感じながら、日本の夏の風物詩「七夕」の文化体験を楽しみました。

皆さんは、天の川⇒（英語:Milky Way）をご覧になったことがありますか？　夜間照明やネオンなど、人工の明かりが強すぎる現代社会では、なかなか肉眼で見ることが難しいですね。天の川を見るには、場所や環境、天候など、様々な条件が揃う必要がありますが、この夏、ご家族で標高の高い山の方へ行って、観察なさってはいかがでしょうか♡

⭐︎The second week of our July summer program started on Tanabata!⭐︎

We made origami rings and stars to decorate our classrooms. Even with the hot days of summer, we felt the ‘coolness’ of a summer breeze as we experienced this Japanese summer event.

Have you ever seen the Milky Way? In this day and age, with so much light pollution, it can be hard to see the beautiful stars with just our eyes. To see the Milky Way, the temperature, weather, and location all need to be right. If you can, it might be worth it to do a little mountain climbing this summer with your family to see the starry Milky Way this summer ♡

3学期開始時から、みんなで観察・飼育していた青虫さんが～サナギになり、サナギが～ちょうちょへと進化し、その全ての工程に立ち合うことができたあっぷるちゃん。

羽化したばかりのちょうちょさんは、始めはプルプル震えながら、りんごの花の蜜を吸っていました。しばらくするとフワ～っと風に乗って、広いお空に羽ばたいたその瞬間！「ちょうちょさがんばれ～！」「いってらっしゃーい！」「げんきでね～！」と、子ども達の口から自然とエールが湧き上がり、みんなでちょうちょさんの旅立ちをお見送りすることができました💕

青虫という小さな小さな生き物から、沢山の新しい発見、進化と生態系の理解を深め、何より、喜びと感動する心、生命の尊さを学べたことが本当に嬉しいことでした。

The caterpillars that joined us at the start of the 3rd semester changed to chrysalis and then to butterflies and we were able to watch them change right in front of our eyes!

The freshly hatched butterflies were shaking at first but gradually spread their wings and enjoyed the nectar from the apple blossoms. They spread their wings and flew away as the children encouraged them; “You can do it!” “Good bye!” “See you again!”

The children were able to learn and experience so much from these tiny caterpillars. Transformation, learning about nature, but most importantly, joy and appreciation for every life!

Today marks the end of the first semester of the 2024 school year! We will be going on winter break for the next two weeks and classes will resume on Monday, January 6th, 2025 for both SD and CV locations.

We hope you will have a very merry Christmas and a wonderful new year ❤️

Our last cooking and soup lunch days of 2024!
The children loved making their very own waffle Christmas trees with juicy fruits and sweet whipped cream. They even made it snow with some powdered sugar! 🎄
December’s soup was a warm ‘Cream Corn Soup’ that warmed our bodies and souls as the winter days roll in ❄️

This month’s soup lunch day was all miso soup! Last week we had a sweet potato 🍠 miso soup with sweet potato grown in our own garden, and this week we had a classic tofu and seaweed miso soup! The children love the soup but also love making their onigiri 🍙 they’re getting better every time!

This month’s Apple Club’s theme was ‘Autumn’!

We enjoyed steamed sweet potatoes 🍠 and made our own butter 🧈 with heavy whipping cream for snack, and made a ‘crayon rub’ of autumn leaves to take home!

We ended the day with “autumn leaves” (color tissue) falling and floating in the classroom 🍂

🍁 Autumn is here! We harvested our sweet potatoes from the garden to make steamed sweet potatoes and hand made butter for our November cooking! The children shook their bottles filled with heavy whipping cream and a bit of salt to make their own butter to go with the potatoes! 🍠😋

Another successful nature dye experience in class! This year CV used the yellow onion dye and SD used the red onion(green) dye in class to make little handkerchiefs to bring home! Please bring them again to wrap your children’s onigiri for the next soup lunch day 😉

This year’s Ringo no Kai (Nature Dye experience) was another success as we came together in the comforting and warm CV home. We had a lot of fun returning to our roots and childhood, enjoying the process, not the results! We hope that everyone was able to learn a bit more about Apple’s philosophy and values today ❤️

October’s Soup Lunch: Onion Soup! 🧅
The sweet onions melting in our mouth as we enjoyed the caramelized onions in the soup. Even the children who usually don’t like vegetables were surprised by how tasty the onions were and asked for seconds! We’ll be using the onion skins from the soup and all that have been donated thanks to the parents for this weekends Ringo no Kai and next weeks nature dye in class!
